Jillson Square in Downtown Romantic Willimantic
It's different this year!

RAIN UPDATE - Saturday, 11pm
As of right now, we are still planning on having the show tomorrow! The weather has been clear for much of the evening here and there MAY be scattered showers tomorrow. It's not enough to call it. So, you can check the weather ( National Weather Service Doppler or WFSB Live Doppler) before coming, but I'm pretty postive that we'll be there!
SEE YA THERE! |
The 6th Annual Thread City Autumn Car Show is coming again this year, and it will be bigger and better than ever! The Willimantic Rotary Club and the Windham Historical Society have teamed up to bring the event this year, and their energy and enthusiasm will make this year's show a blockbuster event. The proceeds from the event will be divided equally between these two great organizations.
The Rotary Club, mostly known for their efforts to eradicate polio worldwide, continues to be a driving force. Not only on the local level, where they have donated the funds to help the Town of Windham purchase their first police dog, "Z", and also provide scholarship opportunities for local students, but on the national and global level, raising funds to provide clean water in Africa and Haiti, shelter boxes in New Orleans and Myanmar, and organizing the world's largest book drive, collecting over 250,000 books to be distributed to children worldwide.
The Windham Historical Society endeavors to discover, collect and preserve whatever pertains to the history of the Town of Windham, and advances programs to make the results of this research available to the public.
This year, we are planning on having up to five car dealerships, three motorcycle dealerships, an alternative fuels exhibit (both bio-diesel and electricity), a fire truck and police cruiser for the kids to take a gander at, and a bouncer for more entertainment for the youth. Outside the fencing area will be an antiques exhibit and show. And, of course, music is provided by The P'om.
So, set your calendar for Sunday, September 28th, from 9:00am to 3:00pm and be sure to stop by Jillson Square. Admission is $3.00 for adults, children under 12 (accompanied by an adult) are free, and seniors are $2.00.
